About the Artwork

Two great trunks rise out of the frame and burst into a canopy of scarlet, tangerine and gold, seen from directly below as if you were lying in the leaf litter looking up. Flecks of cobalt sky and emerald shadow break through the hot colour, keeping the square composition bright rather than heavy. The impasto is at its thickest here - leaves are individual ridges and dabs of paint that cast tiny shadows of their own. It is an immersive, joyful piece that brings the feeling of an autumn walk indoors, suiting living rooms, bedrooms and dining spaces with warm wood and cream textiles. Each piece is hand-painted and hand-finished to order, so its canopy will be subtly its own.
